Paint Quality & Color Selection — Easy Peasy Painting

The Paint We Use,
and Why It Matters

From the team that's submitted 30+ ARC paWhen you hire Easy Peasy, we specify Sherwin-Williams products on nearly every job. It's a deliberate choice, not a partnership — and here's exactly why it matters for your home.

What we use on SA homes

Loxon XP Stucco — high-build acrylic, UV-stable, breathable
Conflex XL Stucco with active cracking — elastomeric flex
Duration Exterior Trim & wood siding — 100% acrylic, 10-12 year life
Emerald Exterior Premium upgrades — best-in-class color retention

Why Sherwin-Williams

5 reasons we specify Sherwin-Williams

A deliberate choice backed by years of San Antonio projects — here's the full reasoning.

1
Climate

Calibrated for South Texas climate

San Antonio is brutal on exterior paint. UV intensity is among the highest in the country, summer surface temperatures on south-facing stucco walls can hit 160°F, and humidity swings from 25% to 85% within the same week.

Most "all-purpose" exterior paints fail within 3–5 years here. Sherwin-Williams engineers specific product lines for hot, sunny, humid climates — and we've used them on enough San Antonio homes to know exactly which ones hold up.

Loxon XP for stucco
Conflex XL for active cracking
Duration Exterior trim & wood siding
Emerald Exterior premium upgrades
2
Warranty

Manufacturer-backed warranty

For jobs that qualify, Sherwin-Williams provides a manufacturer-backed warranty that's independent of our workmanship warranty. That means even if Easy Peasy stopped existing tomorrow, your paint job is still covered by the manufacturer.

We register every qualifying job within 30 days of completion. You receive the warranty certificate directly.

This is hard to get with smaller paint manufacturers and many big-box products. It's standard with Sherwin-Williams.

3
HOA

HOA palette compatibility

Most San Antonio HOAs — including Stone Oak, The Dominion, Fair Oaks Ranch, Cordillera Ranch, Sonterra, and Tapatio Springs — specify Sherwin-Williams color codes in their approved palettes by default.

Using Sherwin-Williams means we're matching the exact codes your ARC committee expects to see, which speeds approvals and avoids the back-and-forth that happens when painters submit "close" colors from other brands.

4
SUPPLY

Consistency across stores

Sherwin-Williams has more than 10 stores within 30 minutes of any San Antonio neighborhood. Every store stocks the same products. Color formulas are identical across locations.

If we run short mid-project, we resupply within an hour. If you ever need to touch up a wall five years from now, your exact paint formula is on file at any SW store across the country.

5
TOOLS

Color tools and customer support

Sherwin-Williams' color tools are the best in the industry. As an Easy Peasy customer, you get free access to:

In-store color matching

Transparency

Are there exceptions?

Yes. For most jobs, Sherwin-Williams gives the best combination of durability, warranty, color tools, and reliability. But we'll always tell you when something else is the right call.

We'll specify a different manufacturer when any of these apply to your project. No surprises — we discuss it at your consultation.

  • A customer specifically requests another brand — Benjamin Moore is the most common alternate
  • An ARC requires a specific different manufacturer for their community palette
  • A specialty product is better elsewhere — specific tinted concrete sealers, specific cabinet enamels

COLOR SELECTION

Paint selection tools for every customer

These are the tools we walk through with every customer before color decisions are finalized.

📱

Tool 1

Color Snap Visualizer

Take a photo of your home or any room and paint different SW colors digitally to see how they look on your home.

Take a clear, well-lit photo
Tap the area you want to "paint"
Browse colors or search by name/code
Save your favorites and share with us
Get the app → sherwin-williams.com/colorsnap
📷

Tool 2

Color Snap Match

Take a photo of your home or any room and paint different SW colors digitally to see how they look on your home.

Match your trim color before ordering
Match a sofa or rug for an accent wall
Find the SW equivalent of a Pinterest photo
Identify what your neighbor's house is painted
🎨

Tool 3

SW Color Cards & Fan Decks

Physical color chips for in-real-life evaluation. Screens lie — the single highest-impact decision aid is a physical chip against your wall in your real environment.

Free color cards at any SW store
Fan decks ~$20 or borrow from your painter
Hold chip against your actual wall surface
View in morning, midday, and evening light
🎨

Tool 4

Order Paint Samples ($4–7 each)

For any color you're seriously considering — don't decide until you've lived with it on your actual wall for 2–3 days.

Order a 1/4 pint sample from any SW store
Paint a 2x2 ft swatch on your actual wall
View at morning, midday, and evening
Live with it 2–3 days before deciding

For HOA-governed homes, Easy Peasy includes up to 4 free sample pints with every estimate.

🎨

Tool 5

Pinterest + Houzz — for Inspiration Only

Fantastic for finding aesthetic direction. Not for final decisions — screens distort color, and what looks great on someone else's wall may not on yours.

Gather aesthetic inspiration
Identify body + trim + accent combinations
Find the architectural style you want
Then translate to SW codes using the tools above

Quick Reference

Rules of thumb for color selection

Quick guidance you can use before working with us — exterior, interior, and cabinets.

🏠

Exterior

Stay within your HOA palette. Period.
Test colors on the south-facing wall — that's where Texas sun is most intense.
Trim should coordinate, not contrast. Bright pure whites usually feel harsh on warm body colors.
Front door is where you can have fun. Body and trim should feel calm; door can be bold.
Garage door should usually match the body, unless designed for visual weight on the garage.
🎨

Interior

Pick body color first, accent walls second. Body anchors the room; accents complement.
Whites and warm neutrals are easier to live with long-term than trend colors.
Test paint on multiple walls — north-facing walls look different from south-facing walls in the same room.
The ceiling matters more than people think. A slightly warmer or lighter ceiling makes a room feel taller.
Trim should match across all rooms unless you have an intentional design reason to vary it.
🚪

Cabinets

Whites and warm neutrals dominate the SA market. Resale-friendly, livable, photograph well.
Two-tone (white uppers + colored lowers) is popular right now — but commit to the contrast.
Avoid trend colors for cabinets — they outlive trends. Choose for the next 10–15 years, not next year.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions customers ask about paint

What paint do you use?

We use Sherwin-Williams as our default — it's the best combination of durability, warranty, and color tools we've found for San Antonio. We use specific product lines calibrated for our climate. For example, on stucco exteriors we typically use Loxon XP, which is engineered for hot, humid climates. For trim, Duration Exterior. For cabinets, Emerald Urethane. These aren't generic 'house paint' — they're calibrated products. And every job qualifies for a manufacturer-backed warranty, which is separate from our workmanship warranty.

Can you use Benjamin Moore instead?

Absolutely. Benjamin Moore is a great brand and we have an account with them too. The main reasons we default to Sherwin-Williams are climate calibration, HOA palette compatibility, and store coverage in our service area. But if you prefer Benjamin Moore, we'll use their equivalent products and adjust the quote accordingly — usually within a few percent either way.

Is Sherwin-Williams more expensive than what other painters use?

Yes — and the math works out. Premium products like Loxon XP and Duration cost more per gallon than budget alternatives, but they last 2–3x longer. Annualized, they actually cost about the same or less. And they don't fail in 3–5 years, which means less ladder time on your house, less disruption, and less risk of substrate damage from peeling paint

WHY EASY PEASY

Why New Braunfels homeowners choose Easy Peasy Painting

We actually drive to New Braunfels.

A surprising number of SA-area painters quote New Braunfels jobs and then ghost. Some tack on a "drive fee" that doubles the project cost. We don't — New Braunfels is a regular service area, and we treat it like one.

We know New Braunfels' mixed housing stock.

Older Comal County homes need lead-safe practices and careful prep for original wood and stucco. Newer master-planned community homes need ARC submissions and HOA palette compliance. Custom builds along the Guadalupe and Comal Rivers often need specialty waterproofing considerations. We adapt.

We use Hill Country-rated coatings.

Same elastomeric and UV-resistant products we use elsewhere in our service area — Sherwin-Williams Loxon XP for stucco, Duration for trim. Calibrated for South Texas heat cycling.

We respect the older parts of New Braunfels.

The Gruene historic district and the older neighborhoods around Landa Park have a character worth preserving. We don't blast through these jobs — we slow down, do the prep right, and use period-appropriate colors when relevant.

PRICING & SCOPE

Common New Braunfels
painting projects

Exterior Repaints

are the most common service in newer New Braunfels neighborhoods — Vintage Oaks, Mission Hill Estates, Mystic Shores, and the master-planned developments off Highway 46. Most exterior projects run $5,000 to $13,500 depending on size, substrate, and trim complexity.

Interior Repaints

are common in both newer builds (families settling in) and older homes (whole-home refreshes). Most full-home interiors run $3,500 to $9,500.

Cabinet Refinishing

is popular in the newer developments where kitchens are 5-10 years old and ready for a refresh. Most New Braunfels kitchens run $3,500 to $7,500.

Historic Home Repaints

in Gruene and around Landa Park require additional care — lead-safe practices, careful prep, period-appropriate palette consideration. Pricing varies more widely depending on home condition.
